Lois P. Gable

York – Lois P. Gable, 90, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Palm Sunday, April 5, 1936, in York, PA, the daughter of the late Rev. Walter and Mabel (Hursh) Gable.

Lois was a 1954 graduate of New Bloomfield High School, PA. Throughout her career she worked for United States Fidelity & Guaranty Insurance in Harrisburg, General Telephone Co., YWCA of York, Eastern Laboratories, The Wynfield Club, and Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

A dedicated and accomplished entrepreneur, Lois was the successful owner of Sesame Employment Agency for over 38 years. She was well respected in the business community and a generous philanthropist who supported numerous charitable organizations. She loved traveling the world and spending quiet time reading.

She is survived by her brother Karl and his wife Dauna Gable of Sneads Ferry, NC. She was preceded in death by her brother Rev. Henry and his wife Audrey Gable of Hughesville; sister Gladys and her husband Rev. Marlin Lauver of York; sister Dorcas and her husband Wilbur Foltz of Shippensburg; and sister Orpha and her husband Roy Sauder of York; and her closest and dearest friend, Yvonne Rudy. She is also survived with numerous nieces and nephews, many great‑nieces and great‑nephews.
