Lloyd E. Shearer

YORK - Lloyd E. Shearer, 89, of York, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Manor Care-North Nursing Home. He was the husband of Doreen E. (Hopkins) Shearer with whom he was married for 63 years. A Memorial Service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with the Rev. Richard B. Starr officiating. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mr. Shearer was born April 9, 1919 in Adams County, a son of the late George Daniel and Della May (Sheaffer) Shearer. He was a former employee of Imperial Remodeling Contractors for 25 years until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Shearer was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of WWII, serving his country from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the VFW Post #5265. In addition to his wife, Mr. Shearer leave behind two sons; Gary Shearer and wife Mildred of Dover, and Rodney Shearer and wife Patricia of N. Codorus Twp.; two daughters, Jacqueline F. Harlacker and husband Donald, and Diane E. Kern and husband Clifford, both of Dover Twp.; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one step-grandson; four step great grandchildren; four step great-great grandchildren; a brother, George W. Shearer; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
