DOVER- Leona (Lee) Elizabeth Ensor, 85, of Dover Township, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026 at her residence after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. She was the wife of Margaret (Meg) Taylor. They shared 44 years together, celebrating 12 of those years in marriage. Along with her wife, she leaves a grand-niece, Jamie Snediker, and a great-niece, Ivy Harringan, whom she loved as a daughter and granddaughter.

Leona was born in Baltimore, MD on February 10, 1941, the daughter of the late Emory and A. Pauline (Hale) Ensor. She was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Ensor. She also leaves two nieces and a nephew and their children.

Leona graduated from Eastern High School in February 1959 and began working for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore. She continued her career with Social Security holding numerous positions in their Baltimore and Woodlawn locations until her retirement in December 1988.

In retirement, Lee and Meg became “RVers”, traveling throughout the U.S. They heard about an organization called RVing Women and joined. That opened the door to a wonderful community and many beautiful friendships.

Lee began attending Stewartstown United Methodist Church when she and Meg relocated to Pennsylvania. She looked no further and soon joined the choir and became involved in the life of the church.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Stewartstown United Methodist Church, 26 S. Main Street, in Stewartstown. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York and on Friday from 10-11 am at the church. The service will be webcast live and can be viewed by searching Leona’s obituary at HeffnerCare.com. Her pastor, The Reverend Keith Braucher will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Forrest Ridge Cemetery in Upperco, MD.
