YORK- Larry G. Shultz, 83, of York went to be with our Lord on August 10th at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 22, 1941 in Lancaster. He lived many years in Marietta. In later years he moved to York for his employment with Preston Trucking. While working there he earned his million-mile pin. He later retired from ABF trucking. He loved driving truck and went by the handle “Mongoose”.
Larry was greeted at heavens gate by his late parents, Guy and Miriam Shultz; his late grandson, Benjamin; and his sister, Kay Stokes. He was the loving husband of Jane, his devoted wife of 59 and a half years. He is survived by his proud children, Lisa Barton and her husband Brooke and a son, Mike Shultz and his wife Tammy. His happiest moments were being surrounded by his grandchildren: Randy, Lacy, Kyle, Katie and Olivia and his great grandchildren Trae, Riley, Madison, and Miles. and his siblings, Guy Shultz, Jr., and Linda Soto.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. He was a SP4 82nd Combat Engineer. He was stationed in Germany, Korea and Japan.
Larry enjoyed fishing, racing and hot rods. He spent many years at the Hunterstown Speedway doing what he loved best; watching racing and working his mathematical magic on perfecting the winning set-up.
When he was in good health you would see Larry and Jane sitting side by side on their swing. Towards the end of his Alzheimer’s journey, he was blessed with the two most compassionate care givers Brin and Krista. We are eternally grateful. Always remember his favorite line, “Only in America”.
A celebration of Larrys life will be held 10 AM on Saturday, August 16th 2025 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA 17408. Prior to the service there will be a viewing from 9 AM to 10 AM. Burial will follow at Quickel Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers; donations can be made to: Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601.
