Karen E. (Woods) Klemme

YORK – Karen E. (Woods) Klemme, 82, formerly of Millville, DE, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her son’s residence surrounded by her loving family and cat, Lily. She was the wife of the late William R. Lawton and the late Gary Klemme.

A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, April 3, 2026 at Fairview Cemetery, 600 Hellam St., Wrightsville, PA 17368, with Certified Celebrant Allison Duke officiating. Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., Red Lion, is honored to serve the family.

Born May 1, 1943, in Elizabethtown, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Bette (Gerber) Woods. Mrs. Klemme was a 1961 graduate of Eastern York High School and a Millersville University alumnus where she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology. For most of her working life, Karen worked as a buyer at the Bon Ton and in sales at DATCON and Frank W. Murphy. Outside of her hard work, she enjoyed traveling to Rehoboth Beach, reading, taking care of her dogs and cats, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her two sons, William E. Lawton and his wife Carol of York and Robert A. Lawton and his wife Lisa also of York; two stepchildren, Kevin Klemme and his wife Denise and Denise Lovin and her husband John; seven grandchildren, William, Courtney, Mackenzie, Brandon, Madison, Zachary, and Hannah; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Woods; and two sisters, Wanda Spannuth and Rebecca Mullaney. She is preceded in death by her son, Peter C. Lawton.
