YORK – Karen M. (Sipe) Howe, 69, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of Daniel R. Howe to whom she was married for 47 years.

Born on September 24, 1956, in York, she was the daughter of Janet L. (Wimmer) Sipe of York and the late Kerwin E. Sipe, Jr. Mrs. Howe was a 1974 graduate of West York Area High School. She dedicated her working life to serving as a veterinary assistant at Daniel R. Reilly VMB in York, where she was employed for 47 years before retiring.

Outside of her career, she was a faithful member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ. In her free time, she enjoyed trips to the mountains and had a deep appreciation for history. She was an active member of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861–1865, Mammy Ruggles Tent #50, where she took pride in honoring the nation’s past.

In addition to her beloved husband, Daniel, and her mother, Janet, she is survived by two nephews, Gary and Adam Slick. She was preceded in death by her father, Kerwin E. Sipe, Jr., and her sister, Elaine K. Slick.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is assisting the family with arrangements.
