YORK-Judith “Judy” A. (Seigworth) Weber of York, PA passed away on June 19, 2023. Judy was born on November 26, 1944 in Knox, PA where she was raised by her parents, Jacob and Irma Seigworth. Judy grew up on her family farm learning responsibility and pride of work which carried on throughout her life. As a child, Judy took great pride in raising ring-necked pheasants for the state as well as being a Girl Scout. She graduated with high honors from Knox High School in 1962 with a background in business studies. Following her graduation, she started her family with David P. Weber.
Judy and her family relocated to Franklin, PA in 1977 where she began her long career at Conair. She held various positions in Human Resources eventually becoming Director of Human Resources. Judy loved her work and enjoyed helping employees. In addition to her job at Conair, Judy was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Franklin, on the board of directors for Franklin Hospital and Franklin Credit Union, held her real estate license and SPHR certification, and was an active volunteer for the Franklin YMCA Swim Team.
In 2000, she married John (Jack) Downie. Jack and Judy enjoyed traveling and spending time with their families. On one such trip, she caught the prize winning sailfish in Florida. Following Jack’s death, Judy moved to York to be closer to her children. In York, she volunteered at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a member.
Judy was a devoted daughter, mother, and wife. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, gardening, and knitting. She believed in hard work and instilled those values in her children. While life wasn’t always easy, she was a fighter until the end.
Judy is survived by her brother Russell and his wife Patricia; her daughters Janet Anderson, Tracy Butler, Jill Bohannon and her husband Chad, and Daphne Canale and her husband Joe; grandchildren Morgan, Johanna, Amber, Andrew, Jakob, Claire, Lily, Kirsten, and Brendon; great-grandchildren Autumn, Ada, Nora, and Maeve; and several nieces and nephews.
