Joyce D. (Wolfe) Seitz, 92, of York, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026 at her home. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Seitz with whom she shared 62 years following their wedding at Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Avenue, York with her Pastor, The Rev. Thomas A. Kiepert officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 AM Saturday at the Church. Private burial will be in Cross Roads Cemetery. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is honored to serve the family.
Mrs. Seitz was born on May 28, 1934 in Stewartstown, a daughter of the late Russel and Ruth (Waltimyer) Wolfe. She was a 1952 graduate and valedictorian of the last graduating class of Stewartstown High School. After graduation, she completed a two-year business course at Powell Commercial School while working as a bookkeeper at H. M. Rehmeyer Department Store in York, until her children were born. After raising her family, she then worked as an assistant to the head librarian in the Dallastown School District. After retiring, she continued to serve as a substitute in the Dallastown district library and school offices until she was 80. Never one to sit still, Joyce would work during the summer at Markey’s Roadside Market. Mrs. Seitz was a passionate volunteer at The Lehman Center of Children’s Aid Society and enjoyed visiting shut-in’s and individuals who didn’t have a family. She was an active member in her young adult years at Cross Roads UM, then transferring her membership to Bethany UCC in York until its closing, and most recently at Faith UCC where she served on numerous committees.
Mrs. Seitz is survived by two sons, Shawn A. and wife Edye Seitz of York, Dr. Todd E. and wife Jane Seitz of York; a daughter, Jennifer R. and husband Stephen Gozdan of Glenside, PA; six grandchildren, Leah and husband Stephen Carr, Hannah and husband Zachary Juliano, Maggie and husband Christopher Eaton, Nicole Gozdan, Katherine and husband James Young, and Zachary Ward; six step grandchildren, Chad and wife Alyssa McGowan, Sarah McGowan, Chase and wife Laura McGowan, Justin and wife Shae McGowan, Emily and husband Christian Buser, and Katie and husband Justin Kilpatrick; great grandchildren and step great grandchildren, Elora, Weston, Reese, Bronson, Grace, Palmer, Crew, Alex, Hayes, Delaney, Hadley, Brooks, Lainey, Callah, Emorie, Georgia, and William; a brother, Ronald and wife Jolene Wolfe of Red Lion; a sister, Delores Wolfe of New York City, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
