Joyce E. Tome

RED LION – Joyce E. (Frey) Tome, 83, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Jacob J. Tome.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 4, 2024 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Monday at the Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery.

Joyce was born on May 30, 1940 in Shenks Ferry, York Co., a daughter of the late Clarence S. and Anna F. (Shellenberger) Frey. She had worked at Cole Steel for many years and later at both Giant Food Stores and Gichner Shelter Systems. Mrs. Tome enjoyed playing in card clubs and Bingo, going on bus trips, and in her younger years going bowling.

Mrs. Tome is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Shaeffer of Red Lion; a son, Jacob J. Tome, Jr. and wife Christiana L. Tome of Madison, VA; six grandchildren, Glenn Daniels, II, Jamie Shaeffer, Alecia Chipps, Heather Housley, Jessica Hobbs, and Kyle Tome; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, George C. “Chet” Frey of New Bridgeville; a sister, Donna Poff of New Bridgeville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna M. Daniels; three brothers, Clarence E. “Gene” Frey, Robert S. Frey, and Luther G. Frey; and three sisters, Shirley Frey, Delores Snedegar, and Penny Joines.
