John F. Mann, Jr.

John F. Mann, Jr., 87, of Pittsburgh, formerly of York, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at St. Clair Hospital. He was the loving husband of 60 years to Patricia (Dietz) Mann.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, March 27, 2026 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Deacon Margaret Folkemer-Leonard officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:30 PM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. Mann was born on June 28, 1938 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Helen (Clark) and John F. Mann, Sr. He was a graduate of Silver Spring High School, Silver Spring, MD and later from Millersville University. Mr. Mann retired from York City School District where he taught history at Hannah Penn Middle School for many years. Upon retiring he also taught at York College and worked as an advisor to new teachers. While living in York, he was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the F&AM York Lodge 266. Mr. Mann enjoyed traveling with his wife, was an avid reader, and history enthusiast. He enjoyed all sports, especially Penn State and Steelers football. Mr. Mann was a US Army veteran.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Mann is survived by a son, Brian A. and wife Heather Mann of Upper St. Clair; and two grandsons, Ethan John Mann and Owen James Mann. He was preceded in death by a son, John F. Mann, III; a sister, Beverly Mueller; and a brother, James Mann.
