John H. “Jack” Davis, III, 75, of Red Lion, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary C. (Freitag) Davis, on Jan. 7, 2023. They had celebrated 51 years of marriage.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Certified Celebrant Allison Duke officiating. Viewings will be held from 2-4:00 PM and 7-9:00 PM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Red Lion Zion Cemetery with full military honors presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Jack's Tribute Service will be livestreamed in the video player below his obituary.
Jack was born on July 28, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland; a son of Mary H. (Wineke) Davis of Marriottsville, Maryland and the late John H. Davis, Jr. He was a 1968 graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Jack retired in 2017 from Community College of Baltimore County in Catonsville where he spent many years as an Instructor and Director of their General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program. Even after his retirement in 2017, he continued on as an Adjunct Professor in the CCBC GM ASEP program. Jack’s love of all things automotive continued in his personal life where he was renowned for his skill at rebuilding transmissions and building drag racing cars, particularly his Chevy Malibu. He also loved finding great restaurants for a meal and a cold brew. Mr. Davis was a US Army Veteran and was a member of Red Lion American Legion.
In addition to his mother, Jack is survived by a son, Christopher J. Davis, Sr. and his wife Krista Davis of New Park, PA; a daughter, Caroline N. Finn and her husband Robert Finn of Nottingham, MD; two grandchildren, Christopher “CJ” Davis, Jr. and his girlfriend Cynthia of New Park and Emma Davis of New Park; a sister, Mary Kathleen Piccirilli of Marriottsville, MD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Neal P. Davis.
