RED LION – Joan M. (Holtzapple) Frey, 87, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at her home. She was the wife of the late Terry A. Frey.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Red Lion Zion Church, 1155 Felton Rd., Red Lion with Rev. Stephany S. Sechrist officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2:30 PM Thursday at the Church. Burial will be in Zion Church Cemetery. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
Born September 26, 1936 in Dallastown, a daughter of the late Harris F. and Grace (Keller) Holtzapple; she was a 1954 graduate of Red Lion Area High School and had one year of nurse training at York Hospital following high school. Mrs. Frey was a member of Red Lion Zion Church where she was active in the Youth Ministry, Zion Craft Club, and was a lifelong Choir member. Joan was a Board Member of Red Lion Area Ambulance Assoc.; had been a member of the former Red Lion Country Club and its women’s golf team; and a member of the former Red Lion Area Women's Club. She enjoyed going to the beach, golfing, attending card club, and spending holidays with her family.
Mrs. Frey is survived by three sons, Dr. Jeffrey A. Frey and wife Christine of Red Lion, Scott H. Frey of Boalsburg, and David T. Frey of Felton; seven grandchildren, Matthew and wife Jamie Jackson, Zachary A. Frey, Wesley M. Frey, Erin and husband Matthew Nowicki, Nathan S. Frey, Brooke E. Frey, and Sydney E. Brown; five great grandchildren, Ryan and wife Sierra Jackson, Kyle Jackson, Brandon Stine, Luke Nowicki, and Savannah Nowicki; two great great grandchildren, Grayson and Paisley Jackson; and a sister, Barbara Hake of Dallastown. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alana M. Brown; and a sister, Loretta Stump.
