Jessie L. (Lightner) Baker

YORK - Jessie L. (Lightner) Baker, 92, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Eugene Baker. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with her visitation pastor, The Rev. Diane G. Wenthe officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:30-2:00 PM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born September 5, 1915 in York a daughter of the late Ervin S. and Beulah K. (Lau) Lightner, she was a graduate of the former North York High School. Mrs. Baker was a member at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, served as a reader for York County Blind Center, and enjoyed playing cards. Mrs. Baker is survived by a daughter, Betsy A. and husband Vernon Smith of Naples, FL; a son, Stephen E. and wife Katalin Dolin of York; two grandchildren, Ann Spahr and Andrew LeCates; three great grandchildren, Daniel Spahr, Jenna and Chloe LeCates; and a sister, Esther Shelley of Reading. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Lightner; and a sister, Dorothy Wasbers.
