RED LION- Jesse D. Runkle, 86 died Wednesday, October 08, 2008 in his residence. He was the Husband of Margaret M. (Olewiler) Runkle to whom he was married for 50 years. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday October 11, 2008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Charles W. Salisbury and his grandsons, Rev. Dwayne and Rev. Brad Runkle officiating. Viewings will be held from 6:00- 8:00 PM Friday, with a Masonic Service at 7:45 and from 9:00- 10:00 AM, Saturday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Runkle was born on March 5, 1922 in Brogue, a son to the late Cyrus L. and Mary (Bacon) Runkle. Mr. Runkle, along with his brothers, Harold, Bruce and Lloyd found Red Lion Bus Company in 1947, where he was still employed. He was a member at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Red Lion. He was a member with the Free & Accepted Masons- Red Lodge #649, the Harrisburg Consistory, Knights Templar, Tall Cedars, Zembo Shrine, Square Club, and American Legion of Red Lion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching his grandchildren play baseball. He was a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II. In addition to his wife, Mr. Runkle is survived by a son, Robert E. and wife Daune Runkle of Red Lion; three daughters, Janet D. and husband Darryl Smuck of Red Lion, Donna M. and husband Louie Blymire of East Prospect, and Anita M. and husband David Smeltzer of Windsor; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, James D. Runkle; and three brothers, Harold, Bruce, and Lloyd Runkle. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, 3544 N. Progress Ave. Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110
