Jerline June Wood

YORK—Jerline Wood (Dalton), 90, of York, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023 at Normandie Ridge.

Born in Sylvatus, VA, she was the daughter of the late Audley Cooper Dalton and Margarette Francis Alderman.

Jerline, known to her friends as Jeri, raised her children, Jeanine and David in Spring Grove and was employed as an elementary teacher in the Dover Area School District for over 20 years.

Jeri loved reading and bringing the joy of reading to others. She read tenaciously and even wrote and published her own book, Kamra’s Christmas Story. In her time as a teacher, she emphasized literacy and delighted in inspiring a love of reading in her students.

Jeri is survived by two children, Jeanine Wood of Littleton, MA and David Wood and his wife Susanlee Wisotzkey of York, PA; four grandchildren, Ed Slavinsky, Amie Chandelle, Marina Middleton and Dalton Middleton; three great grandchildren; her sister Gloria Proffitt of Fort Myers, FL, and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to the loving caregivers who provided wonderful care for Jeri at Normandie Ridge. We also thank Grane Hospice for their comfort and care.

Family and friends are welcome join us for a Celebration of Life on Sunday June 4, 2023 from 11:00 am till 2:00 pm at Box Hill Mansion, 1501 Copper Beach Dr., York Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dover Area Community Library, 3700-3 Davidsburg Rd., Dover, PA 17315
