Jeannette J. Gauntlett

Jeannette J. (Zielasko) Gauntlett, 100, of York, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late William J. Gauntlett with whom she celebrated 69 years of marriage until his death on December 16, 2016.

Mrs. Gauntlett was born on June 23, 1925 in Minersville, Schuylkill County; a daughter of the late John L. and Marfel (Warlow) Zielasko. Following high school, Jeannette graduated from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 with her Registered Nurse degree. She worked as an RN in Philadelphia hospitals until moving to York with her husband and family in the 1950’s. Mrs. Gauntlett had been a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Young Women’s Club of York, York County Historical Society, York Symphony Orchestra, and both Grandview and Briarwood Golf Clubs.

Mrs. Gauntlett is survived by a son, David A. Gauntlett of York; and a daughter, Carolyn A. and husband Tom Havekotte of York. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Jack Zielasko and Edward Zielasko.

Tribute services and burial will be private at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
