LITITZ – Jean I. (Creep) Anderson, 98, was received into God’s glory on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Brethren Village. She was the wife of the late Herbert F. “Herb” Anderson to whom she was married for 68 years.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 1:00 PM located at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. in York, with Pastor Linda S. Titzell officiating the service. There will be a visitation from 12:00-1:00 PM prior to the service. The burial is to follow at Mount Rose Cemetery in York.
Born June 29, 1925, in York, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Evelyn S. (Desenberg) Creep. Mrs. Anderson was a 1943 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. For most of her working life, she was a homemaker. For 10 years, Jean worked for West York School District in the cafeteria, retiring in 1987. Outside of work, she was a former member of Faith United Church of Christ in York for over 70 years. More recently, she was a member of The Faith Community of The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. She was very active at both churches, having served as a Deacon, on Altar Guild, the Under Shepherd Ministry, and bells and vocal choirs. Jean served on the Arts Council at Cross Keys Village, and she was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. In her free time, Jean loved to travel, visiting all 50 states, Canada, and went on numerous cruises. But most of all, Jean loved spending time with her family, talking and having multiple cups of coffee.
Jean is survived by three children, Timothy B. Anderson-Schick and his husband Harry, Susan B. Anderson and Kim E. Jordan and her husband Tom; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herb, a daughter, Karen L. Hoshal, and her sister, Lois M. Greer.
On behalf of the family, a special thank you to the Hospice and Community Care team and the Brethren Village staff for all their love, care and support shown to Jean during her stay in the Courtyards.
