Jean E. Daryman

Listen to Obituary

Six weeks shy of her 98th birthday, Jean Elizabeth (Harlacker) Daryman passed away on September 1st, 2026 in Chandler, Arizona. She was the wife of the late Robert S. Daryman.

Jean was born on October 14th, 1928 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late William and Louise Harlacker. She was a 1946 graduate of Dover High School where she was the class Salutatorian.

Jean had a profound and deep love for our Lord, Jesus Christ. Her faith was vital to her wellbeing and she shared it with those around her. While in York, she was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and, in Arizona, a member of St Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

Jean was a graduate of Prowell’s Business College. She had several mini careers earlier in her life. She started as a legal secretary in the law office of Horace Smith Esquire. From there, she worked in purchasing at American Chain and as a job counselor at Snelling and Snelling. She also was an administrator at Two Face Kitchens.

As a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Jean was warm, loving and kind. She was always most proud of being a Mother. Her family meant the world to her. There was not a sweeter or more loving person than Jean.

Jean enjoyed volunteer work and her bible study group in Chandler, Arizona. She was a Friday afternoon movie aficionado, an expert shopper and loved to travel. She was a huge fan of Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones, having seen the latter 3 times.

Jean was the oldest of 7 children. She was predeceased by her brothers, Bill, Ben, and Donald and by her sister, Ruth. She is survived by her brother, Glenn Harlacker and his wife Linda and her dear sister Ann Drawbaugh and her husband Garry. Jean had three children of her own, Scott and his wife, Tricia (York); Douglas and his partner Sally and daughter Sarah (New Oxford); Laurie and her husband, Ray (Chandler AZ); grandchildren Joseph and Matthew; and great grandchildren Weston and Amelia.
