Dallastown—Janice A. (Austin) Fitzkee, 81, died Friday, July 17, 2015 at Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Ronald E. Fitzkee, Sr., to whom she was married for 61 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1 PM, Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion with her pastor, the Rev. Ronald Doverspike officiating. A viewing will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM, Wednesday at the church. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born April 24, 1934 in York, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Margaret (Marshall) Austin. She was a Red Lion High School graduate—Class of 1952. She was employed with the York Dispatch as a News Correspondent for 35 years until her retirement in 1990. Following her retirement she wrote and edited the newsletters for both the Red Lion School District and the Leo Club for several years. A member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Red Lion for 63 years, she was active in many church organizations and offices, including President of the Ladies Sunday School Class and the “Encouragers Bible Study Group”. She was devoted to her family and loved helping people. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Fitzkee is also survived by two sons, Ronald E. Fitzkee, II., and his wife, Esther of Acworth, GA and Scott A. Fitzkee and his wife, Michelle of Forest Hill, MD; three grandchildren, Alexa, Bryn and Brody; one sister, Jean Sweet and her husband, Richard of Lancaster and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356. Janice was a joy, a beautiful caring woman inside and out. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, always reaching out in love to help anyone. She was exceedingly special to all of us. If you look up in the nighttime sky and see a twinkling bright star….its Janice watching over all those she loved here on earth. She will live forever in our hearts as a pearl of great value. Superheroes don’t save the world, they serve the world. Janice was our Superhero.
