Janet Louise (Becker) Greenplate

YORK- Janet Louise (Becker) Greenplate, 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Leon M. Greenplate. The couple wed on September 12, 1953.

Born on April 28, 1935 in York, she was a daughter of the late John F. and Myrtle M. (Schroll) Becker. Janet was a homemaker who was the best nanny, mother and mother-in-law.

Mrs. Greenplate enjoyed watching birds and occasionally deer at her bird feeder. Most importantly, she loved family time especially with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She was hoping to meet her second great granddaughter, Willow, on the way and was thrilled her middle name will be Louise.

Janet is survived by her children, Randy L. Greenplate and his wife, Kathy of Manchester, Debra J. Deems and her husband, James of Dallastown, Donald L. Greenplate and his wife, Dona of York and Dwayne B. Greenplate and his wife, Michele of Red Lion; six grandchildren, Denise Deems, Steve Greenplate, Kyle Greenplate, Joshua Greenplate and his wife, Angi, Devon Greenplate and Megan Boothe and her husband, Aron; great granddaughter, Haisley Elaine Boothe; and sister, Evelyn Joyce Baker of York. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice Godfrey, Margaret Eisenhower and Deloris Poff; and six brothers, Chester, Carl, Cleon, Clair, Floyd and Ralph Becker.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Reverend Nancy Brody officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
