YORK-Iris Louise “Ike” Holtzinger-Ervin, 95, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Autumn House East in York. She was the wife of the late Ronald L. Holtzinger and was later married to George “Bob” Ervin.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, November 21, 2025 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Chaplain Don Alspaugh officiating the service. Prior to the service a visitation will be held from 10-11 A.M. The service will be webcast live and can be viewed by searching Ike’s obituary at HeffnerCare.com
Born September 29, 1930 in Red Lion, she was a daughter of the late Earl B. and Kathryn A. (Ellis) Daugherty. She was a 1948 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School and a graduate of Millersville University where she received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Mrs. Holtzinger started her career as a registered nurse and later taught for Dallastown Area School District for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Red Lion, Long Neck Methodist Church in Delaware, and more recently involved in Red Lion Bible Church at Autumn House East in York. She was a member of Pennsylvania State Education Association as well as the York Hospital Nursing Alumni. Ike lived her life in motion from performing and directing shows, playing a variety of games, painting, playing piano, cooking, modeling for fashion shows, and was always dressed to impress.
Mrs. Holtzinger leaves two daughters; Tanya Smith and husband, Tab of Lake St. Louis, MO and Collee Ann Wentz and husband Nelson of Red Lion; four grandchildren; Keisha Novak and husband Tyler, Jade Mills and husband Michael, Travis Wentz, and Keirsten Kowalski and husband Chris; three great grandchildren; Lilly, Conner, and Lennon. Also surviving are her step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kirk Holtzinger; and brothers and sisters, June Eisenhart, Dawn Jennings, Fay Cunnigham, Veryle Daugherty, and Vada Collier.
