FELTON – Hugh E. Morton, better known as “The Caterpillar Man,” “Baby Huey,” or “Pappy,” 81, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the wife of the late Marian O. (Fake) Morton to whom he was married for 58 years.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion, with Pastor Pamela Leach officiating. There will be a viewing from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial is to follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

Born March 13, 1945 in Lower Chanceford Twp., he was a son of the late Donald and Alma (Warner) Morton. For most of his working life, he was a diesel mechanic with Cleveland Bros for over 30 years and Modern Landfill where he later retired. Outside of his hard work, Hugh was a member of New Harmony Presbyterian Church in Brogue. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and traveling to his mountain cabin in Slate Run.

Surviving are his two children, William Morton and his wife Jody of Lancaster and Sherry Cunningham and her husband Mike of Felton; four grandchildren, Casey Morton, Elizabeth Sinclair, Kayla Cunningham, and Paige Cunningham; a step-grandson, Michael; three great-grandchildren, Liam, Luke, and Paisley; a great-granddaughter on the way, Piper; a sister, Betty Meckley and her husband Donnie of Red Lion; and a sister-in-law, Connie Morton of Rochester, NY. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marian, and his brother, Frank Morton.
