YORK – Helen L. (McCarty) Spring, 83, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012 at her home. She was the wife of the late Roger R. Spring. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Road, Dover with The Rev. Dr. Eddie D.D. Miller and her son in law, The Rev. David D. Danneberger officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM Saturday at the Church. Private burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born July 1, 1928 in Hughesville, PA, a daughter of the late Clyde M. and Mary M. (Bartlow) McCarty, she was a graduate of Thompson’s Business School. Mrs. Spring was a longtime member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church and was active with United Methodist Women, Christian Women’s Club, and Church Women United. She was also a member of Shiloh Garden Club and Shiloh Home Economics Club. She volunteered at York Literacy Council, Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and the Dover Library. When she wasn’t volunteering her time, Mrs. Spring enjoyed golfing, gardening, and traveling with her husband. Mrs. Spring is survived by a daughter, Nancy S. and husband Rev. David Danneberger of York; a son, David K. and wife Kathy Spring of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Amanda (Spring) and husband Brian Bass, Jeremy and wife Morgan Spring, Matthew and wife Jeanette Danneberger, Katrina (Danneberger) and husband Bruce Harms; seven great grandchildren, Allison and Ethan Danneberger, Bruce David and Rebecca Harms, Ashlyn, Mackenzie, and Kendall Bass; and a great grandchild Spring, due in July. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gordon, Paul, and Edwin McCarty. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 50 E. King St., York, PA 17401 or to York Habitat for Humanity, 33 S. Seward St., York, PA 17404.
