Helen M. (Evans) Brown

Helen M. (Evans) Brown, 94, of York, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred M. Brown to whom she was married for 40 years before his passing in 1993.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 12:00 PM, Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA 17408 with Certified Celebrant Amy M. Favorito officiating. A viewing will be held from 11-12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place 1:00 PM, Friday, June 5, 2026 at Crownsville Veteran Cemetery, 112 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD 21032.

Born March 1, 1932 in Mt. Hope, WV, she was a daughter of the late Kemper D. and Hattie (Shuck) Evans. For most of her working life, Helen was a nurse’s assistant at Raleigh General Hospital. Outside of her hard work, she enjoyed cooking (and eating), gardening, traveling anywhere, but most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren. Her family remembers her as incredibly caring and loving, as well as always being an outstanding mother and wife.

Surviving are her children, Fred, Frank, Tony, Leslie & Mike, Carolyn "Faye" & Frank, Lorrie, Marjorie & Dennis, fourteen grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred, her daughter Sue Brown, as well as her siblings, Dallas, Elmer, Vernie, Viola, Elsie Evans and Margaret Hagans.
