Hazel K. (Hopkins) Fortune

YORK- Hazel K. (Hopkins) Fortune, 87, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Pleasant Acres. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 740 W. Locust St., York with the Reverend Ramona Kinard officiating. A viewing will be from 8-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on February 8, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Hopkins) Richie. Hazel worked as an LPN for over 25 years at Pleasant Acres. She also worked part time as a Beautician for many years. Ms. Fortune was a member of Wheatfield St. Church of the Living God. Hazel belonged to the Household of Ruth. Ms. Fortune is survived by a daughter, Barbara Corley of York; four granddaughters, Eva Carroll, Kim Hibner(Paul), Joyce Corley and Faith Corley; five great grandsons; a great great granddaughter; two sisters, Isabelle Worthy and Dianna Drayden, both of York; four nephews; and nieces. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Garfield McKim and James Richie.
