Gordon N. Ginter, Jr.

York – Gordon N. (Gordie) Ginter, Jr, 96, died on Tuesday night, December 16, 2025, at Amorosa Wellness in York. He was husband of the late Mary Ellen (Rusty) Ginter, who preceded him in death exactly 6 years earlier on December 16, 2019. They enjoyed a loving marriage for 56 years.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held from Noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Wyndham Garden hotel, 2000 Loucks Road, York, PA 17408. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements.

Born on August 14, 1929 in York, he was the son of the late Gordon N. and Margaret A(George) Ginter. Gordie graduated from York High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1, 1951 and served in the 1st Battalion, 169th Regiment of the 43rd Division deployed to Germany during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged at Fort Indiantown Gap on February 10, 1953. He worked at Metropolitan Edison Company for 36 years retiring on December 31, 1989. He was happiest when enjoying time with his family and friends whether he was at his home at 656 Colonial Ave in York or at the family Cabin in Caledonia State Park. Gordie was a kind soul who could have a conversation with anyone. He was a member of the 13th Ward Political Club, VFW in West York, and the Shiloh Legion.

Mr. Ginter attended First Presbyterian Church of York.

Gordie leaves three sons, Mike Ginter and his wife, Donna of Deep Creek Lake, MD, Dave Ginter and his wife, Jenn of York, and Jeff Ginter of Baltimore, MD; five grandchildren, Katie Edwards and her husband, Michael of St. Louis, MO, Nathan Ginter and his wife Kelly of York, Jake Ginter of York, Andrew Trudo and his wife, Aletta of Bangor, Maine and Sam Ginter of York; four great grandchildren, Alex, Matthew, Freya and Eloise; and 16 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Ginter.
