Gloria Mae (Sechrist) Floyd

Gloria Mae (Sechrist) Floyd, 90, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late William A. Floyd who died on March 5, 1998. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Pastor Kay Gingerich officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born on December 31, 1931 in York, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. and Gladys Mae (Keller) Sechrist. Gloria was a homemaker. In her leisure time, she liked going on bus trips, playing bingo, riding her bike on the trail, shopping at markets, and going to church with her pastor Kay Gingerich Carpenter’s Workshop Fellowship in Seven Valleys. Mrs. Floyd is survived by her children, Arthur Why and his wife, Nancy of Shiloh, Thomas Barshinger of Ohio, Elaine Giuffrida and her husband, Stephano of New Freedom, Wayne Barshinger of Seven Valleys, Rodney Barshinger, and Ellen Wilson of York; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two half-brothers, Walter Sechrist of Muddy Creek and Robert Sechrist of York; and daughter in law, Mary Alice Why of Annville. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Why; and sister, Mary L. Shaffer.
