Glenn H. Cooper, 96, formerly of Red Lion, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025 at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover. He was the husband of the Dorothy H. (Grim) Cooper with whom he celebrated 77+ years of marriage.
A Celebration of Glenn’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM on September 20, 2025 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 124 Broadway, Hanover with Rev. Ken Peterkin officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cooper was born on December 21, 1928 in West York, a son of the late George M. and Edith C. (Kelly) Cooper. He was a 1946 graduate of Red Lion Area High School and earned his Associate Degree in Dairy Management from Penn State University. Glenn joined his father in their family business, Quality & Service Dairy which was founded in the early 1930’s. In 1968 Glenn merged his family dairy with Green’s Dairy and continued working as Vice President until his retirement in 1988.
Mr. Cooper was very active in Red Lion having been a member of the former Red Lion Jaycees, serving on the Red Lion Youth Center Board and Borough Council. He was also a member of the PA Milk Dealer’s Association and served on the Agriculture Committee at York Chamber of Commerce. Glenn is an Associate Member at Emmanuel UCC in Hanover and holds a membership at St. Paul’s UM Church in Red Lion where he served as a Stephen’s Minister, taught Sunday School, sang in the Church Choir, and was active on the Board Review of Boy Scouts of America, Pack 28 at St. Paul’s UMC.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, Mr. Cooper is survived by two daughters, Linda C. and husband Rev. Roy Fauth of Gettysburg and Ann C. and husband Frank Augustine of Sewickley, PA; a son, Dr. Jeffrey M. and wife Benedette Cooper of Timonium, MD; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Julia, Adam, Grant, Heather, Lauren, Diane, Rick; 20 great grandchildren; a sister, Marion Miller of York; and beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Gene, and Dale Cooper; and a sister, Patricia Fox.
