RED LION – Gladys I. (Sechrist) Taylor, 93, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Senior Commons of Powder Mill. She was the wife of the late Dwight E. Taylor to whom she was married for 58 years before his passing in 2007.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Bethlehem Stonepile Church, 250 Bethlehem Church Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356, with Pastor Bryant Holtzapple officiating the service. Viewings will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion, PA 17356 and Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
Born September 20, 1931 in Springvale, she was a daughter of the late William M. and Mary L. (Stump) Sechrist. In her early years, she worked at the sewing factory in Stewartstown. She was a homemaker and farmers wife. She tended to the household, took care of her eight children, and contributed a helping hand to the farm. Outside of her hard work, she was a member of Bethlehem Stonepile Church, where she was also a Sunday school teacher. In her free time, she enjoyed tea parties, playing different games, entertaining friends and family, reading, card club, cooking and canning, and going on cruises and bus trips with her husband. She was a member of several farm associations for women as well.
Surviving are her eight children, Debra A. Taylor of Red Lion, Michael E. Taylor of Port St. Lucie, FL, Kathy I. Gilbert and her husband Jerry of Red Lion, Linda S. Leavesley and her husband Gary of Red Lion, Douglas A. Taylor of Red Lion, Dorcas E. McGuigan of Whiteford, MD, David D. Taylor of Red Lion, and Robert L. Taylor and his wife Kristine of Red Lion; twelve grandchildren, Alex, Jerry, Jr., Kerri, Katie, Austin, Olivia, Ben, Matt, Andy, Chris, Jacob, and Joshua; nine great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Robert L. Sechrist and his wife Millie of Red Lion, Thomas H. Sechrist and his wife Darlene of Dillsburg and William M. Sechrist and his wife Erma of Des Moines, WA; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Taylor; six siblings, Mary Ellen Beaverson, Barbara Knisley, Virginia, Nancy, Donald, and Kenneth Sechrist.
