Gilbert T. Bromley

YORK-Gilbert (Gil) T. Bromley, 79 of Dover Township, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, with his wife, Sarah (Bergeron) Bromley at his bedside, at York Hospital. 

Gil was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 3, 1946, the son of the late Hubert and Joan (O’Brien) Bromley. He retired as a police officer from the Philadelphia Police Department’s Third District after returning home from his Army service and tour of duty to Vietnam.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Sarah, a son, Michael Vicknair and his wife Davonna of Georgetown, TX; two daughters, Donna Santabarbara and her husband Gary of Galloway, NJ and Dena Vicknair of Lasalle, IL; four grandchildren, GiaBella, Hilary, Faith Ann, and Gabrielle; and two great grandchildren, Emma and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Khristian Michael Vicknair.

Gilbert was a man that put his heart into everything, and more importantly, everyone he loved. He was more than just a husband. He was a friend, confidant, provider, and problem solver. He believed in the idea of investing in those around him. He wore many hats within the family. Husband, friend, father, pop pop and more than occasionally, class clown. He possessed the uncanny ability to lighten any situation with laughter, and he understood the value of family. He will be dearly missed by all of us. He was a solid man. He was a good man. And his presence was a gift to us all. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm. on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. Certified Celebrant Ashley Matson will be officiating at the service.
