Born September 21, 1948 in West Monroe, LA, he was the son of the late Leon M. and Doris M. (Potier) Rogers.
He was the business owner of Manchester Industries (Division of Yale Truck Lifts) which he operated for many years until his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, he had a passion for hunting, he phrased as "taking his gun for a walk", and fishing, aka "going to wet a hook".
He approached every aspect of life with attention to detail, both professionally and personally. That same dedication was reflected in his garden, where he spent countless hours planting, and caring for it. Gerald enjoyed making people laugh, but above all what mattered to him most was his family, he loved them more than anything. He always told people he had been fortunate to have his journey so full of love and laughter.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Rogers is also survived by three children, G. Wade Rogers and his wife, Tiffany, Beth Anne Wiley and her husband, Jason and Randall W. Rogers; he was also blessed to have Aaron T. Stevens and Melanie Ferree-Wurster as his "bonus children"; nine grandchildren, Clayton, Hunter, Austin, Tristen, Drew, Jordan, Jake, Alexa and Blake; seven great grandchildren, Michael, Kasen, Jemma, Jensen, Joyce Rose, Daniel, Ashton (and one on the way); four sisters, Janet L. Clinard, Anita M. Rogers, Kay E. Ebner, Mary Dell Morgan and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James P. Rogers.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC Cancer Pavilion, Suite 1B, 5150 Centre Ave, Pittsburgh, Pa 15232.
