Gerald Mcdevitt

YORK – Gerald McDevitt, 79, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Kingston Court Nursing Center. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Latze) McDevitt with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 29th.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 15, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Road, York with Rev. Peter Rettig officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM Friday at the Church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.

Born February 11, 1944 in Reading, a son of the late Nathan and Esther (Zabinski) McDevitt, he had retired from Minster Machine Company in Ohio. Mr. McDevitt was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, and spending time with his granddaughters.

In addition to his wife, Mr. McDevitt is survived by a son, Mark and wife Donna McDevitt of York; a daughter, Michele and husband Jim Long of Harrisburg; four granddaughters; and two sisters, Mary Jane McDevitt of Reading and Judy Valeriano of Coatesville. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Larry, and Patrick McDevitt.
