George A. Corney, Jr.

George A. Corney, Jr., 92, of York, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Kingston Court Nursing & Rehab. He was the husband of Joan M. (Sweitzer) Corney with whom he celebrated 73 years of marriage on December 6, 2025.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Pastor Don Heindel officiating. A visitation will be held from 12-1:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery with full military honors provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. Corney was born on April 1, 1933 in Camp Hill, a son of the late George and Mildred C. (Arner) Corney. He was a 1951 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. Mr. Corney served in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, George returned to York and continued his career with S. Morgan Smith and its successors, Allis-Chalmers and Precision Components Corporation until his retirement after 43 years of service. Mr. Corney loved reading multiple books at the same time, collecting knives, and buying cars. He and his wife enjoyed attending Church of the Open Door in Shiloh.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Corney is survived by a son, Michael E. and wife Carol Black of Dover; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Janet Krout and Beverly Kling both of York. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lynn Corney; and a grandson, Travis J. Oerman.
