Gary W. Rinker, Sr., 83, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at UPMC Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Faye D. (Spangler) Rinker to whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Visitation will be held from 6-7:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at St. David’s Evangelical Congregational Church, 2411 Oakland Rd., Dover; followed by a Celebration of Life Tribute Service at 7:00 PM with his Pastor, The Rev. Pat Teaford officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is honored to serve the family.
Mr. Rinker was born on January 26, 1943 in Hanover, a son of the late Roy C. and Edna L. (Vann) Rinker. As a young man, Gary worked as a short order cook at The Lucky Spot in Hanover. He then began working at J.E. Baker Company where he retired after 39 years of service. Gary was a member of St. David’s EC Church where he served as a Trustee, Tri Town Football Assoc., Trout Unlimited, the North American Fishing Club, and Kegler Bowling Assoc. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball and served as Treasurer for Tri Town Football. Gary was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and casting flies on a trout stream.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Rinker is survived by two sons, Gary W. Rinker, Jr. and wife Wendy of Dover, Michael L. Rinker and wife Kimberly of Dover; a daughter, Bobbie Jo Lebo and husband Todd of Dover; seven grandchildren, Zachary Reynolds, Christopher Reynolds, Emily Stauffer, Taylor Rinker, Hali Stough, Austin Lebo, and Bailey Lebo; five great grandchildren, Hollis, Alain, Jolene, Reagan, and Collins; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Billy, Clyde, Austin, Roy, and Richard Rinker; and a sister, Polly Rinker.
