CRALEY - Gary A. "Chick" Shelly, 68, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Rose M. [Laucks] Shelly to whom he was married for 45 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Pastor Rick Sitler officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Craley Cemetery. Born July 25, 1941 in Craley, a son of the late Clair and Elsie [Bacon] Shelly, he retired from ESAB in Hanover, formerly Alloy Rods, after more than 30 years of service. Chick was a member of both Craley and East Prospect Fish and Game clubs, and Lake Clarke Rescue. He enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing, following sprint and NASCAR racing, and traveling to Indianapolis Speedway for races. Mr. Shelly was a US Army veteran. In addition to his wife, Mr. Shelly is survived by a daughter, Shanda R. and husband Richard Morton of Wrightsville; a son, Lon A. Shelly of Wrightsville; two grandsons, Tucker and Rusty Morton; two brothers, James Shelly of Dallastown and John Shelly of York; and two sisters, Joyce Shelly of Craley and Jane Ann Frey of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by a brother, Galen Shelly. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Assoc., 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
