Listen to Obituary

Frederick Eugene “Fritz” Braner, Jr., 70, of East Prospect, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheryl A. (Beckley) Braner, in 2013.

Born on October 11, 1955, in York, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Faye A. (Geist) and Frederick E. Braner, Sr., he was a 1973 graduate of York Vo-Tech. Fritz was known for his outgoing personality, quick wit, and ability to make people laugh. He had a way of bringing smiles to those around him with his sense of humor and genuine kindness.

Fritz dedicated more than 45 years of his career to Campbell Chain/Cooper Tools, where he was known as a hardworking and dependable employee. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time on the golf course, riding motorcycles, camping, watching football and baseball - especially cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs and New York Yankees, and following NASCAR racing. Whether sharing a laugh, watching a game, or enjoying time with family and friends, Fritz embraced life with enthusiasm. He was a lifetime member of the Kreutz Creek VFW, Pleasureville American Legion, Viking Athletic Assoc., Vigilant Club, and the East End Democratic Party of York (Donkey) Club.

Above all, Fritz loved his family. He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Braner and Elizabeth Braner Johnson and her husband, Derek; his sisters, Theresa Braner and Judy Heiss and her husband, Dayne; and his cherished grandchildren, Camden and Chloe Oyler, and Brayden Harnish; niece and nephew, Erin Shue and Tyler Heiss; a bonus sister, Vicki Walker; and a bonus son, Matthew Marowski; and his granddog, Kobe. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss his laughter, friendship, and larger-than-life personality.

Fritz will be remembered for his warm heart, his sense of humor, and the love he had for his family and friends. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the joy he brought to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
