Florence Ann Bower

FELTON – Florence Ann (Playfair) Bower, 81, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023 at her home. She was the wife of Mark E. Bower.

Born February 6, 1942 in Mumbai, India; a daughter of the late Joseph Herbert and Merle L. (Lafrenaie) Playfair; she retired from the US Postal Service. Mrs. Bower was a member of Greater York Baptist Church, Dallastown American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed volunteering countless hours at the Lebanon VA Hospital.

In addition to her husband, Florence is survived by a daughter, Crystal L. and husband Mark Peters of Felton; a son, Dale Van Sickle, Jr. of York; three grandchildren, Ashley and husband Thomas Yanich, Sarah and husband Daniel Martin, and Mark A. Peters, II; six great grandchildren, Kylie, Nolan, Anderson, August, Cameron, and Emery; a brother, Michael Pitoly of India; a sister-in-law, Brenda and husband Jack Bupp of Red Lion; niece, Jill Waltemyer of Red Lion; dear friend, Laura Dollar of Young, AZ; and sisters in Christ, Burma Welber of York and Darlene Mills of Renovo. She was preceded in death by a sister, Iris Fernandes.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Dallastown American Legion, 57 W. Main Street, Dallastown with Pastor Tom Almanza officiating. A visitation will follow the service from 12-3:00 PM Wednesday at the American Legion. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
