Eugene T. Herbst

DALLASTOWN – Eugene T. “Gene” Herbst, 95, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Manor Care Health Services – South. He was the husband of the late Ruth M. (Strickler) Herbst. Born April 7, 1925 in N. Hopewell Twp., a son of the late Emory W. and Margie M. (Ziegler) Herbst, he retired from Dallastown Area High School in 1987. Gene was a US Army and US Navy veteran during WWII and The Korean War. Mr. Herbst is survived by a stepson, Titus F. and wife Betty Geesey of Glen Rock; a stepdaughter, Ann M. Dietz of York; seven step-grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; eight step great great grandchildren; a brother, Junior Herbst of Red Lion; and a sister, Ellen Wierman of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Janice E. Partin; three brothers, Daniel, Edward and Dean Herbst; and two sisters, Alma Smith and Gladys Taylor. Tribute services will be private. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
