Eugene L. Myers

York—Eugene L. “Gene” Myers, 61, passed away Monday, September 08, 2025 at UPMC Hospital – Harrisburg. He was the husband of Melissa S. (Ruff) Myers to whom he was married for 33 years.

Born August 13, 1964 in York, he was the son of the late Larry E. Myers Sr., and Darlene (Miller) Myers.

Mr. Myers spent six years proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps, before enlisting in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He was employed with the Department of Military Affairs for 20 plus years as a maintenance mechanic.

A life member of the West York VFW – Post 8951, he served as the post’s Past Commander, Chaplain, Chairmen of Board and Past District 21 Commander. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, but above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Myers is also survived by one daughter, Samantha A. Copenheaver and her husband, Isaiah; one son, Andrew C. Myers and his wife, Courtney; five grandchildren, Jocelyn, Melanie, Kayden, Sadie and Dakota; three brothers, Larry Myers Jr., and his wife, Wanda, Kevin Myers and his fiancée, Augusta Quiles and Brian Myers and his wife, Chris; two sisters, Cindy Miller and her husband, Jeff and Elsie Gabbard; his best friend, Bobbylee Woodard and his wife, Zoey and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 4:00PM, Monday, September 15, 2025 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Officiating the service will be his best friend, Bobbylee Woodard. A viewing will be held from 2:00 – 4:00PM, Monday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
