YORK—Eugene A. “Gene” Fenton Jr., 73, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025 at his residence in W. Manchester Township. He was the husband of Jean (Jester) Fenton to whom he was married for 49 years.
Born January 28, 1952 in Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late Eugene A. Fenton Sr., and Barbara E. (Hart) Fenton.
He was employed with Volkswagen Westmorland Assembly near New Stanton, before moving to York, where he worked for Harley-Davidson until his retirement.
Gene was an avid car enthusiast, who spent countless hours in his garage tinkering with and enhancing his 1966 Corvette and 1971 Dodge Demon. He also enjoyed listening to classic rock, building model trains and entertaining friends on Facebook with his humor and jokes. However, what he treasured most was his wife and family, and cherished the time they spent together.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Fenton is also survived by one daughter, Christine I. Leppo and her husband, Nathaniel of York; one son, Michael E. Fenton and his wife, Virginia of Trent Woods, NC; four grandchildren, Aryn Mackison and her husband, Hunter, Katie and Jacob Leppo and Parker Fenton; three great grandchildren, Josie, Jax and Jayce Mackison; one brother, James Fenton and his partner, Ken of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Sandra Fenton of York; loyal companion (dog), Teagan and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Donald and Richard Fenton.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements.
