Emilio Martinez, Jr.

YORK – Emilio Matinez, Jr., 80, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, at York North Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his wife by his side. He was the husband of Crystal Lynn (Short) Martinez to whom he had been married for over 40 years.

Born March 12, 1945, in El Paso, Texas, he was a son to the late Emilio Sr. and Anna Maria (Almada) Martinez. After spending his early years in Texas, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland and then eventually settled in York, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, Mr. Martinez went on to serve our country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Martinez worked as a train conductor for CSX Railroad for over 30 years, where he later retired. Outside of his military service and hard work, he was an avid football fan, always rooting for the Baltimore Ravens. Throughout his life, Emilio practiced Christianity, always holding faith in God.

In addition to his beloved wife, Crystal, he is survived by a son, Desi J. Hansen and his husband, Timothy; a daughter, Lisa Martinez; a step-daughter, Diana Hendricks and her husband Todd; three grandchildren, Leo Emile Hansen, Ariana Wood, and Tommi Cottingham; some great-grandchildren; one sister, Estela Barrera; and four brothers, Jorge Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Guillermo Martinez, and Emilio Martinez. He is preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Jose Martinez, Delia Silva, Julia Martinez, Maricruz Martinez, and Patricia Martinez.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, PA 17408 is assisting the family with arrangements.
