Elizabeth J. (Kase) Schumacher

YORK – Elizabeth J. (Kase) Schumacher, 100, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Autumn House East. She was the wife of the late Richard H. Schumacher to whom she was married for 73 years before his passing in 2023.

Born January 30, 1925, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Edna (Wolfgang) Kase. For most of her working life, she was a bookkeeper for Brothers Manufacturing where she worked for 20 years before she retired. Outside of work, Mrs. Schumacher was a member of Holy Guardian Angels RCC in Reading. Elizabeth enjoyed taking walks, traveling, doing puzzles, cooking, baking, and hosting family events. She is remembered as a wonderful and beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Surviving are her four children, Steven A. Schumacher and his wife Pamela, Mark R. Schumacher and his wife Barbara, Gary M. Schumacher and his wife Patricia, and Ann E. Fetters and her husband Mark; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Carole, Marie, and Elinore Schumacher; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Harold Kase and his wife Alice and Arlene Frey and her husband Robert.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is assisting the family with arrangements.
