YORK- Elizabeth (Harrison) Blann, 92 of Jackson Township, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Harold L. Blann.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. Pastor Tanya L. H. Brubaker will be officiating at the service. Burial will be private in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg, MD. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Blann was born in Baltimore on June 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Robert and Anna Marie (Friedrichter) Harrison. She retired in 1981 from Construction Maintenance where she was an office manager for her late Father-in Law, G. Raymond Blann.
She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church. She attended most recently at Calvary United Methodist Church in York. She held past membership in Baltimore at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church in Finksburg, MD, Glyndon United Methodist Church in Glyndon, MD, and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Owings Mills, MD. She was an active member of United Methodist Women and worked with missions, Church Holiday Bazaars and Community holiday suppers, and Special Events productions. Mrs. Blann was also the curriculum secretary for the Sunday School, and built up the Church Library for regular use. If there was a need she worked to see how she could fill it.
She graduated from Catonsville High School. She was an avid gardener who loved all plants but was particularly fond of roses, irises, and veggies. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed making everything from clothing and home decor to toys for children and holiday decorations. She also enjoyed flower arranging, wreath making and crafting for Christmas Bazaars. She enjoyed companionship with Jenny, a beagle and bull terrier mix dog who became the family pet. She and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing and extensive travel in Europe and North and South America.
Mrs. Blann leaves two daughters, Dr. Linda S. Blann and her husband Dr. Terry M. Gordon of York and Patricia L. Blann of York; a granddaughter, Linda Marie Blann-Gordon, and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Connor Shields. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Tess, Dorothy, and Christina; and three brothers, Jerome, Robert, and Paul.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 11 N. Richland Ave., York, PA 17404.
