MANCHESTER TWP- Edward Joseph Woodward, 76, died Sunday, November 9, 2008 at York Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Alice E. (McCarthy) Woodward for 49 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 1- 2:00 PM. Ed was born on April 23, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA a son to the late John and Anna (Seiders) Woodward. He grew up in Pottsville, PA. A gifted artist, Ed attended the New Orleans Academy of Art in Louisiana and the PA Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia. He worked in advertising in Manhattan, New York City and later moved to York to open a commercial art business called Creative Partners. After retiring, he taught many oil painting classes at the York Art Association and at the Yorktown Senior Center. He continued to create exceptional paintings his whole life. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by four children, three daughters, Margie and her husband Pat Farabaugh of Monroeville, PA, Susan Miller of Etters, and Julie and her husband George Lewis of York; and a son John and his wife Tami Woodward of York. He will be greatly missed by his 10 wonderful grandchildren, Patrick, Allie, Bryan, Tara, Jennifer, Adam, Daniel, Kate, Emma and Ben. He is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Woodward.
