Edward J. Girmen

WILKES-BARRE-Edward John Girmen, 83, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away December 30, 2010. Born in Plains on November 15, 1927 he was a son of the late John and Margaret Girmen. After graduating high school, he also attended plumbing school for 5 years, later working for the Local 524 Plumbers Union. He proudly served his county in the Army during the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart. One of Edwards favorite pastimes was fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Girmen. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Gertrude (Forve) Girmen, sons, Frederick J. Girmen and wife, Janet, Mark E. Girmen and wife, Patricia; daughter Kelly A. Girmen and Dean Mack; grandchildren, Jaime, Mark Jr. and Ryan Girmen, and a great granddaughter, Cassidy Girmen. Services were private and entrusted to Kniffen O Malley Funeral Home, Inc. 465 S. Main St, Wilkes-Barre.
