Earl W. Lighty

BROGUE - Earl W. Lighty, 95, went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Delores (Dettinger) Lighty for 72 years.

Born on June 20, 1927, he was a son of the late Roy and Clara Lighty. He retired after 45 years at Glen Gery Brick and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was an active member of Pleasant Grove UMC, volunteered with the Brogue Ambulance Association, and served with the Lions Club. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed outdoor activities especially taking care of his lawn.

Mr. Lighty is survived by a son Michael/Cindy Lighty; two daughters Michele/Dan Folkenroth and Bonita/Keith Trapnell; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a brother, George Lighty; and a sister Mary Saylor. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Allen, and Sylvester Lighty; and a grandson Joshua Markel.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 6-8:00 PM at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from 12-1:00 PM Friday at Pleasant Grove United Method Church, 900 Pleasant Grove Rd., Red Lion. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at the Church with Pastor Terry Robinson and Rev. Joseph Yorks officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard.
