YORK- Earl R. Hagginbothom, 95, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Rest Haven – York. He was the husband of Phyllis N. (Brownwell) Hagginbothom to whom he was married for 64 years. Born February 10, 1919 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Arthur N. and Blanche (Fretz) Hagginbothom, he was a 1937 graduate of Ambler High School and studied forestry at Penn State University. Earl was an electrician at Borg-Warner Inc., retiring in 1982. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday, April 12, 2014 at First Church of the Brethren, 2710 Kingston Rd., York with Rev. Helen Osborne, former minister of visitation and Pastor Don Hubbel officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:30 - 12:30 PM at the Church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Earl was a member of the First Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, usher, and Boy Scout Leader. He was an active member of the Homebuilders S.S. Class. Earl also participated in several Disaster Relief trips to rebuild following a natural disaster. Mr. Hagginbothom is survived by two daughters, Rev. Nancy M. Jones and her husband Stephen D. Jones and Lynn M. Kinner all of York ; three grandchildren, Eric M. Jones and his wife Rachel of Davie, Florida, Sarah M. Kennedy and her husband Jesse of Spring Grove, and Benjamin S. Kinner of York, two great-granddaughters Alexis and Taylor Jones, and several nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Hagginbothom; and two sisters, Elizabeth Gresick and Dorothy Gibson. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Heifer International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock,AR 72202 or to Disaster Relief, c/o First Church of the Brethren, 2710 Kingston Rd., York, PA 17403.
