YORK- Douglas Allen Sheaffer, 68, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Lorie Sheaffer to whom he was married for 40 years. Born on August 20, 1953 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Levere and Ruth (Keefer) Sheaffer. Doug worked in sales and sales management at Schaedler Yesco for 35 years until retiring in 2019. Doug was a member of Advent Lutheran Church of York. He was proud to be a longtime member and past president of the York Jaycees where he met his wife and made many lifelong friends. Over the years, he enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, MD and going wine tasting in the Finger Lakes, California, and other places during his travels. He loved traveling with his family and friends through the Midwest, West Coast, Florida, Hawaii and Europe. He especially enjoyed visiting his children and grandchildren while they resided in various parts of the country. Along with his wife, Lorie, Doug is survived by his son, Christopher Sheaffer and his wife, Kristen of Portland, OR; daughter, Kelly Sheaffer and her partner, Jarret Miller of Conshohocken, PA; two grandchildren, Calvin and Matilda; brother, Kenneth Sheaffer and his wife, Ruth of Hampstead, NC; nieces Becky Wimmer and Nicole Klugh, both of York; nephew, Austin Gingerich of Red Lion; mother- and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Floyd Dittenhafer of York; and sister- and brother-in-law, Lisa and Greg Gingerich of Red Lion. Memorial contributions may be made to the York County Community Foundation, 14 West Market St., York, Pa 17401. Please reference the Sheaffer Housing Fund, which will benefit affordable housing and homeless prevention in York County. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Advent Lutheran Church, 1775 E. Market St., York with Pastor Constance Mentzer officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be private at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hanover, PA.
