Dorothy M. Darby

Dorothy M. Darby, 91, of Wilkes-Barre, died Thursday evening, September 20, 2007 in Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre on January 27, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothea (Sandt) Steinhauer. She was educated in G.A. R High School and was a member of Albright United Methodist Church. Herhusband, Job T. Darby died December 24, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert J. Darby; grandson, David; and sister, Helen Derhammer. Surviving are her daughters, Dorothy M. Davis, Wilkes-Barre and JoAnn L. Meier, Mountaintop; grandchildren, Job, Lisa, Leo, Amy, Jeffrey, Donna, Dorothy and Job; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend Patrice H. Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Albright United Methodist Church, Dana & Grove Sts., Wilkes-Barre, PA or the S.P.C.A.
