Dorothy Mae (Lehr) Mathison

YORK – Dorothy Mae (Lehr) Mathison, 91, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at Pleasant Acres. She was the wife of the late Wilson S. Mathison, Jr. to whom she was married for 46 years before his passing in 1997.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place from 6:00-9:00 PM, Saturday, September 20, 2025, located at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA 17408.

Born March 5, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Irvin E. and Della L. (Moose) Lehr. For most of her working life, she was an assembler at several manufacturing plants. Her children remember her as a very hard worker and very strong willed. Outside of her hard work, she enjoyed crocheting, playing at Bingo with her friends at Autumn House East, camping, going to yard sales, and most of all, she enjoyed her Sunday evenings when her family would gather. Dorothy loved her family and friends immensely and her family remembers her as a woman that was incredibly easy to love. She will be dearly missed by many.

Surviving are her four children, Jeffrey W. Mathison and his wife Shena, Jerome T. Mathison and his wife Terry, Kimberly A. Groff and her husband Rick, and Karen L. Gentzler and her husband Randy all of York; ten grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and four sisters, Martha Heath, Nancy Bowman, Jane Simon, and Jean Ort. Dorothy is preceded in death by her siblings, Butch Lehr, Irvin Lehr, and Sarah Borror.
